Two Logos and A Launch

The time has finally arrived for Sacred Centuries to officially begin.  On September 6, 2021, Jo and I will set off on our first century, leaving Kingston, New York, winding up through the Hudson Valley, and arriving in Saratoga Springs, New York where we’ll meet up with Rev. Kathy Johnson.  We have a wondrous itinerary ahead of us, including a soulful stop at the Zen Mountain Monastery in Mt Trempor, and a slow saunter around the holy ground surrounding the Ashokan Reservoir south of Woodstock.  Heading north I’m hoping to pay brief respects to the Omega and Garrison Institutes, while Jo plans to relish in time spent with four-pawed and feathered friends at Falling Waters Preserve, Tivoli Bays Wildlife Management Area, and the Shawangunk Grasslands. Once in Saratoga Springs, Kathy plans to guide us to and through several sites close to her heart.  I’ll have lots more details, and reflections, to share after this trek. For now, we are just simply thrilled to begin!

“The Biker and the Birder”

In addition to finally getting on the road, Jo and I have designed two logos.  This first is my design for Sacred Cycling.  And, hey, if I see you out on the trail, I’ll have stickers to share!

The second design is one Jo and I are playing with for our combined Sacred Century journey.  It’s become apparent that this venture is a combined effort, offering both Jo and I the blended blessings of indulging our individual passions while supporting one another on an adventure that we can enjoy and reflect on TOGETHER.  The birder and the biker set out to explore North America!

After our New York Sacred Century we have plans to explore Pennsylvania and Maryland in the coming months. If you “care to share” routes, sacred sites, wildlife and birding refuges that you would either like to share with us, or think we should visit in your state, please post them here. Who knows how long it’s going to take us to wheel and wander through all fifty states. Right now, this week, it’s simply about beginning. Thank you again for following along.

Pedal on!
